Nought or Cross?
Derby Theatre
After reading the thrilling book Noughts & Crosses, we
all came to the conclusion that we all thoroughly enjoyed it. As soon as we
read the first chapter, we were all whisked away into an intriguing world where
two lovers fight to stay together. But, can they overcome the difficulties and
end victorious from the war?
The two protagonists: Persephone and Callum long to be with
each other but the society has different ideas- noughts and crosses can’t mix.
As the story proceeds to unfold, we step into their shoes and see from their
perspective the struggles that they face linking with their race. We soon
learnt that black people ruled over white peoples’ lives and transformed all
their lives into a living misery.
After being engaged in this exciting adventure for so long,
we ventured out of school to watch the performance on stage at the Derby
theatre. As soon as we set eye on the performers, we were instantly glued to
it. They were very creative and we learned that you can interpret one book in
many different ways. Overall we all loved the passionate performance and we can’t
wait to see what’s in store for us whilst reading our next book: Dr Jekyll And
Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Written by Amelia Nugent and Lauren Quinn.
